Hofbrauhaus, Day 7, 6-11-2019

Before I start this entry I would like to take a moment and salute the Auburn Tiger baseball team.  The college world series of baseball awaits them. We listened to the game on radio in Innsbruck last night and were supporting our team.  Go Tigers and War Eagle.
Today marked our last day in Innsbruck.  We packed, loaded the car, checked out of the hotel, and headed to Munich...  destination the Hofbrauhaus.... but first a few items to take care of.  On any of these trips, there is a certain amount of relief when you turn in the rental car, with no damage.  Mission accomplished.  Car turned in, we took the S8 train (suburban rail) into Munich.  The train stop was beneath our hotel.  We checked into the Hilton Munich, stored our luggage, and proceeded to the Marien Platz and the Hofbrauhaus for lunch. Hankins had one beer and a Schnitzel, Linda and Mary Ann had Bavarian Roasted Chicken and I had Roasted Pork Bellies...  a great dining experience.  We toured the building, made famous by Hitler.  He spent a lot of time there in the '20's getting support for his fledgling Nazi movement.  It was founded in 1589 and is one Munich's oldest beer halls.  The building was damaged by bombs in WWII, but later was restored.  After WWII, thanks in part to legions of American soldiers stationed in the Munich area, bringing home beer mugs with the HB logo on them, the Hofbrauhaus quickly became the number one tourist attraction in Munich.  It has not changed much today.  We are tourists, so we did what tourists do.  We went there and participated...another great lunch and an enjoyable experience.  We called it an early day today.  I need to catch up on my chronicles and we have a long day tomorrow. Good night.

There are 297 Division One college baseball teams in the United States.  8 of these teams made it to the College World Series.  Four teams are from the SEC.  We adopted Texas Tech.  So it's kind of like there are 5.  Go Auburn, Guns Up Red Raiders.
